Following is a brief history of the building so you will have some background on it before the event!

The current Gray and Holt building originally opened in November 1911 as the Dixie Theatre a silent move theather. The picture shows changed daily with admission at 10 cents for adults and 5 cents for children.

In 1929-1934 it operated as the Ira Jaffe building a dry goods store.

In 1934 E.T. Gray  (known as Doc Gray) & Sons bought the building for supplying dry goods to the community; furniture, groceries & clothing. Doc Gray was known for carrying the largest selection of ‘Overalls’ for his clients. The building switched hands again to the Aycock’s where they carried items of nostalgia from decor to clothing. In 2008 there was a change in management where the store brought in speciality items such as collegiate ware and memorabilia until 2018 when it was purchased by Zach Walker. Under Mr. Walker’s ownership, the name will continue to be Gray & Holt.
